It's not just how people treat waiters but how they treat anyone they feel is "beneath" them that lets you get a glimpse of their real character.
Posted by marybeth at April 15, 2006 10:40 AM Other StuffI'd agree, generally, but there are places - such as upscale restaurants and certain cities like Paris - where the tables are turned and it is very difficult to maintain politeness and be served.
Posted by tee bee at April 15, 2006 05:46 PMI will agree that the amount of interaction and, to some extent, the type of interaction between a waiter and a diner depends on the type of restaurant but I have never been to one where I felt that being rude or abusive would have gotten me better service.
